task 1a Lumiere brothers

1a from malvinaaax

The Lumiere brothers where French inventors which manufactured photographic equipment and basically made "cinema" which they called "Cinématographe".because they had no editing they had to use actual events and simple scenes to make sure that the viewers understood what was going on in the film.

"Arrival of a train at La Ciotat" was one of the Lumiere brothers films it used actual events of a train coming towards the camera and people getting on and of this may be seen as being boring and simple now but back then because people had never seen anything like it they was amazing by the film that was being made also they had to keep it short and simple for the audience to understand because if they had done a complicated scene then people wouldn't of known what was going on because there was no editing to make it clear to the viewers of what was going on.

Also because it had no narrative that is another reason to why they had to make the films to short and simple because there was no dialogue for the audience to know what was going on if they did have narrative maybe it would have been a different more in depth film.

  1. Ok this is very basic. You do give a sense of who the Lumiere brothers were, but don't give dates. You give a sense that this was pre-editing but don't analyse the film in any depth. You could have proof read and added pictures. Where are Tasks 1b and 1c? Vanessa
